The decision to go to Mexico as an Au Pair was very easy for me. Having already spent 4 months in Mexico in 2023, I had a strong longing for Latin America. For me, being an Au Pair was the ideal combination of a stay abroad and my love of children. The application process went very quickly and after a few weeks I had already found the perfect host family for me. After a long phone call and a few text messages, it was immediately clear to me that I wanted to start my trip as soon as possible. I was warmly welcomed by my host mother at the airport and when I arrived home I immediately got to know the two girls and their dad. My everyday life usually started after kindergarten. We visited playgrounds, the pool or went on short trips to the beach, for example. We spent our time playing, doing arts and crafts or playing sports. In the evenings, I helped put the children to bed. I often had weekends off and used the time to meet up with my new friends. Of course, there were also challenges. The children were sometimes a challenge, especially when they were in a bad mood or arguing. But over time, I learned to deal with these situations. My host family was always willing to help me. I grew from these challenges and became more self-confident and independent. My stay as an Au Pair in Mexico was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only did I improve my Spanish skills, but I also gained a lot of valuable experience and made new friends. I learned to take on responsibility and find my way in a foreign culture. The support of my host family and the love of the children made my stay unforgettable. For anyone thinking about becoming an Au Pair, I highly recommend it. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that should not be missed.
